PROJECTS:
SPECIALTY BUILDINGS
We have completed multiple unique, standout projects in and around the Austin area. Many of these projects offered unique challenges of their own. Working closely with the General Contractors and Consultants, we were able to successfully complete the projects and deliver an exceptional product to the owner.
PROJECT:
iFLY Austin
13265 US-183, Suite A, Austin, TX 78750
About the project:
I-Fly SkyVenture Austin was completed in 2013 and was the first Indoor Skydiving Facility in Texas and offers the most advanced wind tunnel technology in the world. The Michael Hsu Office of Architecture design has several multipurpose rooms, lounges, and meeting rooms and served as a prototype design for their subsequent facility expansions. This 9,886 square feet ground-up, 3-story facility has extensive mechanical, electrical, and control systems throughout the building. This very challenging project features a 14-foot diameter, 50-foot tall flight chamber and is the first wind tunnel equipped with air-conditioning. This Bay & Associates MEP design included a 3,000 amp electrical service in order to accommodate four (4) integrated VFD distribution panels controlling the four (4) 350HP fans. The flight chamber is a climate-controlled and re-circulating vertical tunnel capable of speeds of up to 160 mph.
